The Chancellor of Evergreen, officially the Federal Chancellor of the Evergreen Republic (Coast Salish: Shsi'em̓ Tlusíp), and sometimes called the Prime Minister, is the head of government of the Evergreen Republic. The chancellor is the chief executive of the Federal Cabinet and heads the executive branch. The chancellor is appointed by a majority of the Assembly on the nomination of the president of the republic.
Under the Valentines' Day Constitution in place since the creation of the Evergreen Republic, the Evergreen Republic has a semi-presidential system of government in which the chancellor is the head of government, while the President is the head of state. The Chancellor has far-reaching political power when it comes to dictating government policy; and nominates their cabinet which are formally appointed by the President, as well as holding the sole power of nominating candidates for the Supreme Court. The Chancellor oversees the administration of the government of the republic, and must maintain the confidence of a majority of the Assembly of the Republic.
The position of the Chancellor originated during the Constitutional Convention, in which SayerQT pushed for a semi-presidential system of government with the Chancellor as a separate head of government from the President. Prior to the creation of the Evergreen Republic, the Salish Confederation used a parliamentary system with a Chancellor as the chief executive, and the Republic of Cascadia used a presidential system with a President as both head of state and head of government. The semi-presidential system with both a president and a chancellor was established as a compromise between the two systems of government by the founding nations.
The current federal chancellor of the Evergreen Republic is FenshBeetM, who has led the fifth federal cabinet and his first cabinet (First FenshBeetM Ministry) since 14 May 2022, when he was nominated by President SayerQT and appointed by the Assembly to succeed OriginalDogster.

Notes: [1] The FroyourFilms cabinet had no parliamentary confidence, and FroyourFilms became Chancellor via a compromise during the Constitutional Convention where Xyyz, outgoing President of Cascadia, became President of the Republic until the march elections, while Froyourfilms, the outgoing Salish Chancellor, was to be chancellor until the march elections. [2] No election was held, and the 1st Assembly of the Republic consisted of all members of the Salish Parliament and all members of the Cascadian Senate at the time of dissolution.
