May 2022 Evergreen general election

General elections are occurring on 29 and 30 April 2022 in the Evergreen Republic to elect the President of the Republic for a two-month term and Assembly of the Republic for a one-month term. Elections for the provincial government in British Columbia are also occurring on this date. These are the third legislative elections held in the Evergreen Republic and the second presidential election.
Incumbent President xBest_Name_Everx did not stand for re-election. The presidential election resulted in a first-round victory for incumbent Chancellor SayerQT, receiving 54.8% of the vote. Voter turnout was 58.33% of registered voters. The legislative election resulted in 29 delegates being returned, with OriginalDogster forming a government as Chancellor.
Background
The March 2022 Presidential Election resulted in a Landslide Victory for Supreme Justice xBest_Name_Everx, garnering 62% of the vote in the First Round of voting. The legislative election held on the same date resulted in a landslide victory for supporters of SayerQT, who was soon appointed and approved as Chancellor in a 27-2 investiture vote. March contained many events that progressed the republic further in it's journey as a newborn state, such as the signing of the Keewatin Accords which established the Organization of American States, a defense alliance between the United States of America, the Evergreen Republic, and the Mexican Empire.
At the end of March, the Assembly of the Republic was routinely dissolved by President xBest_Name_Everx for the monthly legislative election, which was held on 31 March 2022. It resulted in a second consecutive landslide for the SayerQT Government, with an increased seat count of 29 out of 31. On 12 April, Cuba declared war on the Mexican Empire, which triggered in Article IV of the Keewatin Accords in which the Assembly of the Republic voted for the Evergreen Republic to declare war on Cuba on 14 April. A treaty was agreed to later that week.
In late April, speculation began to spread about a potential Reset to EarthMC. These rumors were soon found to be partially true with the announcement of EarthMC Terra Aurora on 19 April 2022, with the release announced to take place to the public on 13 May 2022. This news received mixed views, however mostly positive. This resulted in a realization of impending doom for the Evergreen Republic, whom exists on the pre-existing server of Terra Nova's inevitable decline into inactivity as more people migrate to playing Terra Aurora full time. The Evergreen Republic has not created a consistent plan to deal with Terra Aurora and all of it's issues, which have become a cornerstone in the May 2022 electoral campaign.
Washington during this period had quickly grown to become one of the most active, large, and influental provinces in the Republic, with Governor OriginalDogster becoming a very influental figure in national politics. Throughout the duration of the two months since the last Presidential election, Provinces such as Queen Charlotte and Colorado have left the Republic, however provinces such as Russian Alaska had been admitted.
Electoral System
Voting in the Evergreen Republic is conducted via universal suffrage, and is allowed for all citizens over who became citizens prior to the election.
President
The President of the Republic is elected using a two-round system. Citizens may field their candidacies for the presidency, and participate in the general elections, which are held on the next to last day in the month (in this instance, 29 April 2022). If the most-voted candidate takes more than 50% of the overall vote, they are declared elected. If the 50% threshold is not met by any candidate, a second round of voting is held on the day immediately following (in this instance, 30 April 2022). In the second round, only the two most-voted candidates from the first round may participate. The candidate with the most votes the the second round is then duly elected President of the Evergreen Republic, and sworn in at the start of the new month.
Assembly
The Assembly of the Republic is elected using a system designed by constitution co-author SayerQT specifically for these elections (called Quotient Voting), and was modeled off of the form of approval voting formed by LawOfRence for elections for a small amount of supplementary elected seats in the Cascadian Senate. The entirety of the Assembly is elected, however there is no set number of seats. The Delegates of the Assembly are elected by the entire electorate. Each candidate to be elected as a Delegate of the Assembly (DA) must receive a quota of votes equal to or greater than 4% of the total population of all citizens of the Republic’s discord; however, the minimum number of votes that the election quota may be is three. Each voter may vote for as many candidates as one so pleases. The number of votes required for election in this instance is three.

SayerQT won the Presidential Election on the First Round of Voting without the need for a second round. The voter turnout was 62.71% all eligible voters. No votes were cast from the provinces of Sahtu, Bhutan, and Nez Pérce. xX_cMac_Xx, Captinlamb, Xyyz0, and Erginbird received no votes.
