The Cascadian Hockey League is an ice hockey sports league in Cascadia. Founded by Dexter_that_boi on February 17, 2026, the league has not had it's first season yet.
Rules
The game of hockey, converted to Minecraft, consists of 3, 5-minute periods. If a goal is scored by moving the puck into the goal net, then it counts as 1 point on the scoreboard. If the regulation ends in a tie, the game moves into an overtime for 5 minutes. If no goal is scored then, it moves into a shootout, where the team captain (usually the Center) has 3 chances to make a goal. If one person gets more goals than the other, the game is won in their favor.
Free Agents
Free agents are used as substitutes, or backups, for players who cannot make it to games. They are also drafted as extra players.
Playoffs
The two conferences (East and West) both have a final, where 2 of the 4 teams in the conference go through a best-of-3 series, and the winner of that advances to the Gretzky Cup Final, where they meet the winner of the other conference's final. Then, they go through another best-of-3 series, and the winner of it gets the Gretzky Cup.
History
First Attempt
The league tried to start in December 2025 but failed in its making.
Re-Attempt and Recovering from Aurora Shutdown
The CHL tried again right before Terra Aurora was shutting down, and easily converted once it happened.
Restart and Delaying Season
Primarily due to nobody signing up to become players, the league kept delaying the season.
Trophies
Gretzky Cup
The Gretzky Cup (named after Wayne Gretzky), is the championship trophy of the CHL. It is usually given to the winner of the Gretzky Cup Final winner, and a replica is displayed in their arena's concourse.
Jarome Iginla Trophy
Named after Jarome Iginla, the trophy is handed to the GM of the Gretzky Cup winning team prior to the actual cup.
Johnny Gaudreau Trophy
Named after Johnny Gaudreau, the award is given to the player with the most season goals in the league, even if they are not in the finals.
