The August 2022 Cascadia general election was the first monthly general election in Cascadia to elect the Governor of Cascadia and all twelve seats in the House of Representatives for one-month terms, as well as electing the Chief Judge of Cascadia for a two-month term. These were the first elections to be held in Cascadia.. It was held from August 16 to August 17, 2022, under the new Constitution ratified that same year. This was the first of three elections in Cascadia to not be held on a Sunday, prior to the ratification of the 2nd amendment to the first Constitution of Cascadia.
Electoral system
Governor
The Governor of Cascadia was elected by First-past-the-post (FPTP) voting due to only two candidates being on the ballot. In this system, voters cast a single vote for a single candidate, and whichever candidate gets the most votes after the voting period has ended, they are elected governor. The voting period lasts for roughly twenty four hours. Voters may mark only one candidate.
House of Representatives
Members of the House of Representatives were elected by score voting from 4 constituencies with three seats. In this system, voters give each candidate a score, the scores are added (or averaged), and the candidate with the highest total is elected. The voting period lasts for roughly twenty four hours.
Electoral boundaries
Interim Governor SayerQT issued the Decree of Electoral Law, in which the borders of districts in the House of Representatives as well as seat magnitude were issued for the following election.
