Cascadia, officially the Republic of Cascadia, was a country and sovereign state located in North America on Terra Aurora. It had a diverse geography, with rugged landscapes that include rocky coastlines, sandy beaches, forests, lakes, mountains, and grassy plains, and borders the Vermont Republic, Canada, Illinois, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east; the Pacific Ocean to the west; North Alaska to the north; and Mexico, Texas, the Gulf of California, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Cascadia peaked at a population of 2,233 in early 2026, making it one of the largest nations in the world. The capital of Cascadia was Olympia and its largest city was Astoria, with major blocks of population fairly evenly distributed across the nation's territory, with population centers such as Grouse, Sandrift, Purest Pines, Seattle, Vancouver, FA, and New York at its conclusion.

Cascadia originated from the settlement of the city of Seattle on the first day of the server, which was established as the third town in North America. It was founded by Chrysoprasus, along with Vorobyevite, EstiQT, and Sayerleft, and was intended to be a trading outpost and to eventually form a nation called Washington. This plan soon turned downhill, with an unfavorable and unstable geopolitical position in the Region dominated by California, with many members from this original cast of founders leaving to Russia, leaving Sayerleft alone to run the rump of a settlement, eventually moving to a new settlement in Olympia. Sayerleft created the nation of Cascadia, with its capital in Olympia, and including the town of Seattle, on July 13, 2022, much to the dismay of the nearby Oregon Empire who saw their northwest hegemony threatened. Cascadia soon became an associate nation of New Mexico, a state of the United States of America, and signed a mutual defense treaty with Australia. It soon grew, with many new towns in the area either joining or being founded by Cascadia, and while a full democracy was planned from the start, a Provisional Constitution was ratified and first general elections for President, Chief Judge, and the House of Representatives were held on August 17, 2022, electing acting President Sayerleft for a full term as its first President with 82.4% of the vote.

Under the presidency of ViolentVampire, the nation experienced rapid growth, and oversaw the Six-Hour War and the subsequent liberation of Washington from Oregon and the incorporation of Washington into Cascadia. This, tied with the later outright purchase of Oregon in December 2022, led to Cascadia being the undisputed power in the Western United States, with territory as far north as the Arctic Ocean and as far south as Phoenix. Throughout the course of 2023, Cascadia solidified its influence, both regionally and internationally, while simultaneously fending off against internal and external forces, including divisive politics, regional populism, the secession of the Rocky Mountain Federation, the fascist Osoyoos movement, and the nascent Wagner Group, and dozens of minor forces that chipped at the sovereignty of the Republic. In June 2024, Texas invaded Cascadia and started the Great American War, which concluded in a Cascadian victory with the signing of the Treaty of Vancouver that September. Following the collapse of various regional powers in North America in early 2025, such as Texas, USA, and the Midwestern Union, and the rise of a new enemy in the form of Illinois, Cascadia not just expanded its territory to include portions of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, and the Great Plains, but Cascadia become the sole superpower in North American politics, overtaking the previous perceived equal status that the nation had shared with Vermont in Eastern North America.

The Cascadian national government, as established by the National Constitution, was a presidential republic and liberal democracy with a separation of powers into three branches, including a unicameral legislature consisting of an elected House of Representatives, an executive branch headed by a President, and a judicial branch headed by a Supreme Court. While a unitary state, for administrative and statistical purposes Cascadia had been divided since 2025 into 25 counties and 1 capital city. The Cascadian political tradition was rooted in Enlightenment ideals of liberty, equality, individual rights, and the rule of law, as well as being heavily influenced by the social-democratic tradition of early Cascadian history, with Olympian democracy and Olympian economic theories (also known as Vampist-Sayerism) being philosophies in which Cascadian institutions are deeply rooted. A nonpartisan democracy, since early 2025, Cascadian politics had been dominated by both nationalist and globalist factions, although Cascadian politics have previously had different dominant factions in different points in its history. It is the largest and longest continuously existing democracy on EarthMC.

A developed country, Cascadia ranked high in economic opportunity, activity, productivity, technological innovation, upward mobility, and education, throughout much of Terra Aurora. Cascadia was the largest import economy on the server, and accounted for over 6% of total global economic output in April 2025. It was ranked the #1 best nation to live in in the server. Its economy had been the world's second largest by total wealth since early 2025 just behind Japan, and had very little substantial wealth inequality, with the highest wealth per capita of any major import-driven populated nation. A melting pot of many groups and customs, the culture of Cascadia was shaped by years of immigration, and its soft power influence had a global reach. Cascadia was a member of multiple international organizations, such as the Organization of Free Nations (of which it was a founding and leading member), and played a leading role in global political, cultural, economic, and military affairs throughout much of Aurora.

Etymology

The earliest attested use of the term "Cascades" in real life the mountain range dates to 1825, in the writings of botanist David Douglas. During geological explorations in the early 1900s the term was first applied to the region. The name 'Cascadia' was first used by the town Cascadia, Oregon that was settled in 1890 in what is now Linn County. The name "Cascadia" was first applied to the whole geologic region by Bates McKee in his 1972 geology textbook Cascadia; the geologic evolution of the Pacific Northwest. Later the name was adopted by David McCloskey, a Seattle University sociology professor, to describe it as a bioregion. McCloskey describes Cascadia as "a land of falling waters." He notes the blending of the natural integrity and the sociocultural unity that gives Cascadia its definition.

On many earth towny servers in the vein of EarthMC, Cascadia is a somewhat common nation name to occur in this region of North America, typically being centered in a city such as Seattle or Astoria. On the previous EarthMC server, Terra Nova, the Republic of Cascadia was a democratic republic existing for nearly 3 years in the region, waxing and waning in size and influence throughout the continent. While some members from Terra Nova's Cascadia are apart of Cascadia on Aurora, most of the population and government are different, and Cascadia on Aurora is a completely different nation and entity.

Geography

Cascadia was the server's second-largest country by total incorporated chunk area, behind only Japan. The 204 towns located across Cascadia occupied a combined area of 22,832 plots, equal to 2.8 million square kilometers in claimed territory. The unclaimed territory in between towns, which was especially prevalent in the north of the nation, significantly expanded the territory of Cascadia beyond what is controlled within towns.

The western border of Cascadia was defined by the Pacific Ocean, which had a significant amount of its population and metropolitan areas, such as Seattle, Olympia, Vancouver, Astoria, and Fresno. Major arterial waterways, such as the Columbia River, Puget Sound, and Salish Sea, defined the coastal plains and forested areas that comprises the coast of Cascadia. The Cascade and Sierra Nevada mountains divided the coast from inland regions, which exist as deserts, plateaus, and basins that extend to the Rocky Mountains, with plains beyond the Rockies in Alberta and the Great Prairies. The north of Cascadia was dominated by the Yukon Mountains, which mark Cascadia's northwest border with Alaska, and the Mackenzie River basin that drains into the Arctic Ocean. Cascadia also exerted sovereignty over the eastern portion of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, as well as a majority of Indiana, since the dissolution of the Midwest Union. As of 2025, Cascadia also had a presence in the southeastern United States and the Appalachian Mountains, and had two towns on the Atlantic Coast of North America (Rosen_Telia and Tidewater).

The National Parks Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior, oversaw 8 national parks across Cascadia. Conservation became a prominent issue as a result of increased urbanization and development.

Infrastructure and Recreation

Sports

The RFL, or Rosey, is the main sport of Cascadia. It is a widely watched sport, with hundreds of fans across the coast.

There is also the Cascadian Hockey League, an ice hockey league with 8 teams across Cascadia.

Railway

There is a proposed railway system coming to Cascadia, connecting Vancouver, Seattle, Olympia, and Grouse.

Government and politics

Constitutional framework

Cascadia is a unitary constitutional presidential republic with a representative democracy, with supreme power vested in the National Constitution. The constitution however, grants significant reserved powers to the municipalities and towns, meaning that Cascadia can be considered a hybrid system between federalism and unitary government; however nearly all policy is decided and administered nationally. In Cascadia, all power is constitutionally vested in the people, and are exercised through their elected representatives and officials, under the principle of majority rule, with substantial protections for minority interests.

Executive branch

The executive branch of the government of Cascadia is headed by the President of Cascadia, which the Constitution vests with the executive power. The president is both the head of state (performing ceremonial functions) and the head of government (the chief executive). The National Constitution directs the president to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed" and requires the president to swear or affirm to "preserve, protect and defend the National Constitution of Cascadia." Many presidential actions are undertaken via executive orders or other presidential directives, and it is the president's responsibility to administer the Executive Branch and make all appointments and nominations as necessary under the law. The president appoints the Cabinet, which is made up of the heads of the several executive departments responsible for executing public policy and laws. The president is also the commander-in-chief of the National Guard, and is the chief diplomat of the nation. The president is elected together with the vice president for a one-month term at general elections. The current and 26th President is ka_tie.

Legislative branch

The legislative branch of the government of Cascadia is the Legislature of Cascadia, consisting of a single house, the House of Representatives. General elections are held every month concurrently with elections for President, and as of the most recent election it consists of 15 seats. Members represent multi-member constituencies to which they are elected from. Legislation may be initiated by any representative. The House also elects a Speaker, who is the presiding officer of the House of Representatives, currently MasterEWild. The Vice President has the power to break any ties if necessary, a relic of the Vice President's former power as President of the Legislature prior to the ratification of the current Constitution. All laws passed by the House of Representatives must either be signed or vetoed by the President, however the Legislature may override a presidential veto with a two-thirds supermajority. The Legislature also holds the sole authority over the national budget, declarations of war, treaties, confirmation of presidential appointments, and the sole power of impeachment of all officers of the state.

Judicial branch

The Judicial Branch of the government of Cascadia is operated as the Supreme Court of Cascadia, headed by a single Chief Justice of Cascadia, as well as two Associate Justices. It is widely considered the least important branch of the government, due to how infrequent it is used and the small size of its bureaucracy and process. It has original jurisdiction over all matters relating to Cascadia, its towns, or its people, and the Chief Justice presides over impeachment trials in the Legislature. While cases at all are rare, criminal cases are even rarer, with the most common type of case taken by the Court being civil suits that often turn into cases of constitutional review. The current Chief Justice is WrestlingWithGod, having been appointed to the post by Dracnoian. There is also an elected Public Advocate, serving for a term of two-months, that acts as a public defender and a legal representative of the people in contrast to the state, represented by the cabinet member and presidential appointee, the Attorney General.

Elections

Elections are held every month in Cascadia, every month electing the President, House of Representatives, and deciding whether to retain the Supreme Court justices for another month. The President is elected by instant-runoff voting, and the House of Representatives is elected in multi-member divisions electing several members each via nonpartisan proportional representation (also known as Single Transferable Vote). Referendums often occur on amendments to the Constitution, which are necessary for their ratification. Elections are officially nonpartisan, however historically factions have existed that have played a part in presidential and legislative elections. The current constituencies used in legislative elections are Great North, Metropolitan, Southern, and Frontier.

Subdivisions

Cascadia is organized into a system of counties, established as the primary geographic subdivisions above towns and municipalities but below the national government and electoral districts. These counties were introduced by the “Counties Act of March 2025,” replacing the previous borough system. They function as administrative units with specific responsibilities and limited powers, designed to facilitate cooperation among towns within their boundaries while adhering to national oversight. There are 24 counties and 1 county-level municipality in Cascadia.

Each county is governed by a County Commission, which is composed of the mayors of all towns located within the county. The commission’s primary role is to allocate any funds received from regional budgets, national government grants, or private donations. Decisions regarding funding allocation require at least 50% of mayors to participate in the vote, with a two-thirds supermajority of those votes needed for approval. County Commissions have the flexibility to determine their own procedural rules and may adopt titles such as “Board of Commissioners” or “County Council” to suit their preferences. These commissions are tasked with managing cross-town infrastructure projects and providing assistance to towns in need within their jurisdiction. Since mid-2025, counties have had the ability to have between one and two elected at-large members of the commission.

Counties also have the authority to establish law enforcement entities, such as sheriffs, to enforce national laws within their territories. However, their powers are strictly limited in other areas. Counties are prohibited from establishing courts or taking any judicial actions, as these remain under the exclusive purview of the national government. Furthermore, counties cannot legislate independently unless explicitly authorized by the Cascadian Legislature.

The Department of Home Affairs oversees all matters related to counties, including their creation, dissolution, naming, and boundary adjustments. Newly founded towns are assigned to counties by this department to ensure balanced administration across Cascadia. While counties enjoy some degree of autonomy in managing local affairs, they remain subordinate to national oversight, with the Legislature retaining ultimate authority to override any decisions made by County Commissions.

The National Capital City of Olympia, as a unique case, is considered a county-level special municipality, having an elected Executive and Legislative Assembly which make ordinances on an expanded set of policy matters as devolved by the National Government, including in the creation of criminal ordinances, regulation of finance, and appropriations. Olympia is considered co-extensive with "Thurston County".

These counties are further subdivided into the core administrative unit of Cascadia, which are its municipalities, cities, and towns. There are 205 municipalities in the Republic of Cascadia, each overseen by a mayor (besides in Olympia, where the town-level divisions are referred to as "wards", and are headed by a Ward Supervisor accountable to the City Executive). Towns are the smallest unit of administration in Cascadia, and the National Constitution vests them with supreme authority over property and management of their local populace, supreme to that even of the National Government.

Since October 8, 2022, the in-game nation of Washington has been apart of Cascadia as a vassal, and is treated as apart of the nation of Cascadia for all political purposes, despite its status in-game as separate. This status is known as a trade possession office. The Washington Trade Possession Office is located in Columbia County.

Foreign relations

The Republic of Cascadia has an established structure of foreign relations, and it has the world's second-largest diplomatic corps as of 2025. It is a leading and founding member of the Organization of Free Nations and is home to the OFN's headquarters in Seattle. Cascadia has a "Special Relationship" with Vermont and the Midwestern Union, and strong ties with Wollaston, Pilbara, Brazil, and several other OFN and democratic nations. Cascadia works closely with its OFN allies on military and national security issues, and with several other countries such as the Soviet Union and Nebraska through independent bilateral agreements. In South America, Brazil is traditionally considered to be the closest ally of the Cascadia. Since late 2024, Cascadia has become a key ally of Finnmark; it has also provided the country with significant military equipment and other support in response to Scandinavia's December 2024 invasion. As the server's largest and oldest democracy, it wields considerable influence, and has thus been involved in numerous conflicts historically with nations such as Texas, the Rocky Mountain Federation, and California. The current secretary of state, who leads Cascadia's State Department, is FoxClient.

Military

The president is the commander-in-chief of National Guard of Cascadia and appoints its leaders, the secretary of defense and subservient generals. The Department of Defense, which is headquartered in Olympia, administers the National Guard, which is the standing volunteer militia and armed force of Cascadia. The present Secretary of Defense is ElimBessus. Cascadia is known for having one of the most advanced and sophisticated intelligence programs on the server, led by Director of Intelligence Raptormm4.

History

Pre-History

In Terra Nova, the region was mostly dominated by first by the Republic of Cascadia, then later split between Cascadia, the Salish Confederation, and the State of Jefferson, the former two eventually merging to form the Evergreen Republic four months prior to the announcement of Terra Aurora. Cascadia on Nova, the Salish Confederation, and the later Evergreen Republic were all pillars of democracy and self-rule in a mostly autocratic server; and the system's dominance over the region was profound. When Terra Aurora was announced, the Evergreen Republic was not unified in their path to settle on the new server. A large chunk went on to form Nevada in the southwestern united states, some citizens who ended up leaving Evergreen just before the release of Aurora ended up forming what is now the Oregon Empire, and many settled and formed Mexico, as well as lots of other evergreen diaspora across the new server in places such as California or Indochina. However, a few Evergreen citizens, led by EstiQT ended up deciding on staying in the Northwest, and to create a trading outpost called Seattle on the first day of the server, to gather resources, to become a trading hub, and to eventually create a nation called Washington.

Settlement of Seattle & Pre-Creation

When Aurora Early Access was released, Seattle was made fairly early, becoming the third town to be made on the North American continent. The town expanded and began development, however, the nearby Oregon Empire was soon established, nearly completely eclipsing their planned nation, by now referred to as "Cascadia" as an idea. Oregon, then under the authority of California, did not respect any claims or stakes of Cascadia to any part of land whatsoever, and in border talks laid claim to all areas under claim by Cascadia, which by now was whittled down to just a tiny pocket of Cascadia. Due to the increasing pressure, stress, and unfavorable geopolitical situation in the region, major leaders Vorobyevite, EstiQT, and Chrysoprasus left Seattle to form towns in Siberia, named Tomsk and Novosibirsk, taking with them most of the gold in the Seattle bank, and leaving town councillor SayerQT to become the second mayor of Seattle. With the town left destitute, SayerQT began a period of regaining wealth for the town, as well as gradually increasing the playerbase of the planned nation from just herself to a handful, with herself eventually leaving Seattle to xX_cMac_Xx, and forming the settlement of Olympia on May 21, 2022. This was a giant period of inactivity for the planned nation as a whole, who was not seen as legitimate by any nation due to most of the towns being nationless towns in a region increasingly dominated by the now-independent Oregon Empire.

Nationhood, New Mexico, and Hostility with Oregon

On July 13, 2022, Cascadia was formed by Sayerleft, with its capital in Olympia, and was quickly joined by the town of Seattle, and an alliance was formed with the Oregonian duchy of Washington. Cascadia became an associate nation within New Mexico, a state of the USA, for diplomatic protection, and signed a mutual defense agreement as well with Australia. The creation of Cascadia provoked a giant backlash from the King-Emperor of Oregon, OriginalDogster, and the opinion of Washington soon flipped mere hours later, and the position of the Oregon Empire was, in the words of OriginalDogster, "to encircle them and eliminate this threat once and for all". Later that day, Oregon established several towns on every side of Olympia, in order to block the expansion of Olympia, named Elma (to the west), Liliwaup (to the north), and Tacoma (to the south). Renton, a town made a day prior, was assumed to have been a claimblock town, as it was apart of Oregon, however it was just a normal town that happened to join Washington, and later that week joined Cascadia, with its mayor eKatxe taking over the Mayorship of Seattle. It was also around this time that Bend, in Northern British Columbia joined Cascadia. Sayerleft formed an interim government in a Grand Council, consisting of all mayors, and the Grand Council granted Sayerleft the full authority over the state in a referendum, until inaugural elections would be held in August under a new constitution.

The claimblock towns made by Oregon were assumed by the leadership of Oregon to not be in violation of the EarthMC rules, which state intentionally creating towns to block the expansion of another town is against the rules. However, OriginalDogster repeatedly said "They aren't claimblocks, so they won't be deleted". However, two days later, EMC mods deleted all three towns in conflict with Olympia as violations of EMC rules, and Olympia quickly expanded to absorb the towns. Mayor of Astoria, Ryzenix, soon proved to be an even larger foe to Cascadia than the Oregon government, due to his extreme hostility and defiance of any law or instruction from any authority. Ryzenix during this period killed many Cascadian citizens, with the Oregonian government doing nothing as Oregon considered Ryzenix to not be a state actor.

Nearly a week after the nation's creation, the founding members of Seattle that left to form the Central Siberian Republic, including Vorobyevite, Chrysoprasus, EstiQT, and shattered2907, expressed to Sayerleft their decision to move back to the Pacific Northwest due to the lack of opportunity in Central Siberia and to support Cascadia in its struggle against Oregon. They set their eyes on creating the city of Spokane, but this territory was widely seen as hotly contested and disputed between Cascadia and the Oregonian Duchy of Washington. With Cascadia's economy and population skyrocketing, and with attempts by Oregon to eliminate Cascadia failing, Cascadia and Oregon entered negotiations to create a border on July 22, 2022.

The first day of negotiations resulted in a stalemate, with neither side giving up any claimed territory. On the next day, however, EstiQT, mayor of Tomsk and an impartial mediator due to having recruited both Sayerleft (leader of Cascadia) and OriginalDogster (leader of Oregon), became a neutral arbitrator between the two parties in the negotiation process. The negotiations were successful, with the Treaty of Tomsk was signed and put into force on July 23, 2022, ending hostilities between the two nations. Despite this, Ryzenix continued attacking and threatening both Cascadians and the Oregonian city of Neah Bay, being perceived as a nuisance by the general populace of both Cascadia and Oregon. However, OriginalDogster still held out hope that Astoria could stay an Oregonian city due to its close proximity to their capital of Salem. However, Ryzenix left Oregon shortly after the treaty was signed, joining Norcallia and only returning to Oregon occasionally for claims. OriginalDogster eventually won him over and he begrudgingly rejoined Oregon.

Period of Expansion, and First Elections

On July 23, 2022, Cascadia experienced a boom of expansion, introducing new towns to the nation such as Gifford Pinchot, Helena, Spokane, Kelowna, and a day later purchased Victoria from Nevada, with EstiQT moving back to Cascadia to become Mayor of Victoria. Olympia, the capital, also underwent a large expansion, claiming all the way to the Pacific Ocean, to counterbalance the claiming aggression from Astoria. Ryzenix soon played a different tune, when he sold a few chunks to Olympia for a fairly cheap price, but that was not enough to save him from being banned for alting on July 29, putting Astoria in a statis that it is still in today. Over the course of August, Cascadia would acquire more towns, such as Ruby Ridge, briefly Abbotsford, Port McNeill, and Neah Bay, which quickly catapulted into a booming center of population and activity in the nation.

Alongside the August 2022 American Presidential and U.S. Senate elections, Cascadia held its inaugural elections on August 17 under its newly ratified Constitution written by SayerQT and ratified by the people, electing SayerQT for a full one-month term as the very first President of Cascadia, against Port McNeill Mayor Toasterburnt, with SayerQT receiving 82.4% of votes and Toasterburnt receiving just 17.7%. Bubba_Tea also emerged from a competitive 4-way race to be elected Chief Judge for a two-month term with a plurality of votes, with 35.3%; as well as the voters electing all 12 seats in the first session of the Cascadia House of Representatives, the unicameral legislature of the nation. Sayerleft chose ViolentVampire as her Treasurer, a choice that influenced her term tremendously.

ViolentVampire, Treasurer in the Sayerleft government, is elected President for the month of September 2022 with 95.2% of votes, the highest in the nation's history, against Mayor of Yakima PavTheYT, receiving only 4.8%. Half of the 12 seats of the House of Representatives were won by newcomers. Former president Sayerleft remained in the government, with the position of Vice President. At the same time, cascadian Arathorn52 was elected as Grand Councilor of New Mexico, the Empire's second-in-command.

Cascadian Independence from New Mexico

As Grand Councilor, Arathorn begins the redaction of a new Constitution for New Mexico with the goal of democratizing the Empire that Cascadia is still part of. This new Constitution restricts the powers of the monarch and establishes a new legislative body, composed of all citizens of the Empire, the Popular Assembly. The Constitution is approved by the New Mexican government and Empress Pastamancer, however she blocks the creation of the Popular Assembly. What follows is a serie of controversial decisions by Empress Pastamancer, leading some cascadians to start to question her leadership.

On September 27th, President ViolentVampire, Secretary of State xBest and Grand Councilor Arathorn, push to reorganize New Mexico into a confederation giving Cascadia an almost complete autonomy. Pastamancer refuses and evicts Arathorn and all cascadian ministers from New Mexico's government, violating the new constitution and marking the definitive rupture. On September 29th 2022, the House of Representatives votes the independence of Cascadia.

Operation Dragonflame

A day after ViolentVampire's victory in the November 2022 election, the nation of Washington rebelled from Cascadia. The small nation had been purchased during the Six Hour War and was implemented into the Republic of Cascadia shortly after it's purchase by illinformed. However, at the time prominent Cascadian DaPigThatBig joined Washington and officially seceded from Cascadia, engaging in an "undeclared war" (in the words of Tylenol), by hunting Cascadians and harassing it's members. However, unbeknownst to anyone in Cascadia, this was part of a planned operation by DaPigThatBig (Pig) in order to acquire the Oregon Empire for Cascadia (which was still, at the time, an enemy of the nation who had engaged in a aggressive behaviors against the nation). The Washington rebellion acquired the town of Newport (a large nation on the southern Oregon Coast) amongst others, leading to Cascadia to call upon it's allies across the server to assist. However, in just two weeks after the original secession, Washington was able to convince Oregon's leader to sell the nation. Upon gaining control of the nation Pig promptly refused to pay. Washington promptly ended the rebellion and revealed it's plan, named Operation Dragonflame, signing a peace treaty with Cascadia and selling the nation of Oregon itself. Left with no nation, the towns of Portland and Salem would join Cascadia shortly after, ending the Oregon Empire's foothold in the region.

Presidency of TylenolEC

TylenolEC, who was elected in one of the first truly competitive elections in the nation, went on to implement a number of policies promoting the young Republic's rapid growth, allowing it to see some of the largest peaks in activity and population in it's entire history.

Under President Tylenol, all three branches of governments were reformed, with the nation moving past a foundational stage. It's territories expanded greatly, especially outside of the Pacific Northwest, such as into Idaho, Northern California, and Northern British Columbia. The nation also purchased Yellowknife, also accumulating controversy during the purchasing process. Cascadia formed the Pacific Coast Alliance, a short lived but useful alliance with Sonora (in Mexico), and Yamato (in Japan), both of which were quite powerful.

Presidency of EstiQT

After EstiQT was elected in a less contentious election, but shortly after went inactive along with much of the nation. This resulted in a stagnation of the nation's growth, with the political dynamics of the nation shifting from the united, rarely-contested elections to more political divisiveness with groups such as the Frontier establishing within the nation.

Banff Insurrection

On March 5th, 2023, the town of Banff seceded from the nation to form a new capital, prompting its sister city Avola to sever ties with its western neighbor, while Cascadia declared Banff mayor EdgyIsRandom among others to be enemies of the state.

In response to a claim arm campaign launched by Banff, Cascadian President Milgorn on March 14th funded Avola mayor cheeseballfluffy with 832 gold to bolster the town in an act of defensive claiming. Soon after an active demilitarized zone was established between the two towns, peace talks concluded on March 16th with the Treaty of Banff being signed by Cascadian and Rocky Mountain officials. This recognized the Rocky Mountain Federation as a sovereign nation, albeit under the direct colonial rule of Portugal, while additionally setting a border between Banff and Avola.

After beating the incumbent WrestlingWithGod in a competitive election, Bachinuni would become inactive almost immediately. Under his administration, the botched buyout of the RMF occured, leaving Cascadia nearly broke and destabilizing the nation. Seeing that the nation needed a more active leader, he resigned on August 9, 2023, having his more active Vice President EmpressCorgo take his position.

Bankruptcy, Political Turmoil (August-October 2023)

Main Article: Osoyoos(Political Faction)

Cascadia entered an era of great internal instability through the botched RMF buyout, in which the then Secretary of Defense, REALLimpopo, who was tasked with holding the nation, decided to take the nation for himself, which effectively bankrupted Cascadia. This also led to Osoyoos, an upcoming political faction, to come into play, bringing along with them a jingoist, imperialist agenda. Bachinuni, who was the president at the time, resigned immediately, believing the nation needed a more active leader, as he had been not throughout his term. His Vice President, EmpressCorgo, took over the nation, and immediately got to work on negotiating gold back to those who donated toward the botched buyout and recovering the economy. The August elections had the most presidential candidates Cascadia had ever seen by this point, with eight candidates putting forward a bid. The Osoyoos-backed PhantomXYZ_ had the most first preference votes, however EmpressCorgo won reelection through final-preference votes.

EmpressCorgo would have a new national shop built, which was designed by Setrus, Milgorn and Ravioli983, and built by Corgo herself ingame. This process took over a month, however it led to a much needed boost in the Cascadian economy, with more room and a renewed focus on promoting the shop. Some bills such as the Voter Age Act and the now Rainy Day Fund Act were passed during this time, alongside also reintroducing Cascruit, which had been repealed under Bachinuni's administration. The Treaty of Walterston was also signed between Limpopo and Cascadia, which was a controversial agreement to have Limpopo pay back those who donated toward the aforementioned botched buyout at a rate of 50 gold a week. Cascadia eventually would recover to normal levels financially, and would even be on a gradual upward trend.

Osoyoos had already been known to be very eager to escalate conflict, however after the September Elections this would be turned up by a huge amount. Figures within the movement accused the Frontier of not honoring an alleged deal that they had made to support each other electorally, and as a result, a deep feud erupted between the two, massively increasing the political instability and toxicity in Cascadia. They also had gained an imperialist itch, and wanted to conquer Cascadia's then southern neighbor of Jefferson, mainly because of a similar feud they had with it's leader, Rocksthunder. During this time, they also began to openly desire taking over the country as a one party state, mainly because of the now deep tensions between them and a newly formed loose coalition between the Frontier and the Corgo Administration.

When the October Election cycle came around, the results at final preference ended in a tie between the Osoyan Flatvent_One and the Social Democrat incumbent EmpressCorgo. Due to the tied election, the result was to be decided by a contingent election in the House of Representatives, however before the contingent election was to be held, Osoyoos attempted to trap dozens at a speech in Osoyoos proper, admitted their plan to plunder the national treasury if elected to power, and most of Osoyoos's figures left the nation. They would go on to found the nation of Chad almost immediately after, who would also go on to have a short yet storied existence of crusading against Cascadia in the Wagner War.

Recovery, Political Unification and the Wagner War (October 2023-March 2024)

When the towns aligned with Osoyoos left the nation to found Chad, Cascadia experienced a major drop in it's resident count and activity, losing over a hundred of its then 285 residents. Alongside this, Osoyoos had made up around a quarter to a third of Cascadia's active community, leading to Cascadia experiencing an era of relative inactivity. Members of the Frontier were also going inactive around this time, contributing to the inactivity. It was such a big hit to Cascadia's activity that Osoyoos's new nation, Chad, would actually surpass the nation in residents for a very short time. As a result, the next one and a half months of Cascadia's history were relatively uneventful domestically.

The silver lining of the Osoyan secession was that the polarization caused by the unruly faction had quelled conflicts between the Frontier and Social Democrat factions, who now made up the entirety of the nation. This led to a lasting era in Cascadian politics in which there was little to no factional division. Post-secession Cascadia's political atmosphere was a particularly calm one, in stark contrast to the unstable, toxic, and erratic one of just the week prior. Frontier and Social Democrat voices, for the first time, were generally very friendly with each other, though disagreements still occurred as typical with a democracy. EmpressCorgo's last term was primarily focused on rebuilding, of which Cascadia gradually found success. especially through the nation of Jefferson joining the nation. This also led to Moxie rejoining Cascadia, as she was a member of Jefferson, who had just deleted the town of Oceanside a few months prior, leading to the Battle of Oceanside. This however did not affect her reputation in Cascadia by this point.

This term was also marked by the Hanse Library Robbery, a library in then-Austria that was robbed of tens of thousands of gold in items by three Cascadian citizens: 3llies, Paradox_1080 and 8kwng. The anger about the robbery was directed toward the Cascadian state itself, who responded by attempting to recover and return as much of the items or value as they could, a process that would take a couple months. Despite this, it would remain a major scandal, as many didn't see this as enough, with enemies of Cascadia branding the nation collectively as scammers during the coming months, citing the incident.

With the Overclaim update on the horizon, Cascadia's adversaries, particularly the newly-formed Chad and North_Paso's Texas, saw it as a way to seriously harm or even destroy Cascadia. As a result, Wagner Group was formed between Chad and two other nations, an alliance formed to do just this on December 13. On this same day, the group declared war on Cascadia, starting the Wagner War. Over the coming weeks, more nations would join the alliance, such as the aforementioned Texas, Tasmania, and Somalia under 8set. Texas would also found the Restored Republic of Cascadia through Bon_Kranch, a puppet state under the in-game nation of Oregon, made with the goal of eventually replacing Cascadia, whom they would now refer to as "Pacifica". Texas's declaration of war was also notable for it's infamous attached speech by North_Paso, known as the "Deadly Sins Speech". It was an exceedingly long 10,000 character rant about Cascadia, likening multiple of it's top members to some of the Seven Deadly Sins. He referred to Cascadia as a whole as undemocratic, toxic, factionalistic, and in Paso's words, "The most morally bankrupt nation on the server".

The war up to the buildup to Judgement Day for Wagner was mainly consisted of an informal smear campaign, planning a massive overclaiming attack on Cascadia's vulnerable towns and the sniping of the town of Seaside by 8set, which is a section of what is now Astoria. Cascadia's actions during this time consisted primarily of Operation LNClaim, an already active plan to fortify as many of their vulnerable towns as they could for Overclaim. This plan was a huge success, with Wagner forces famously only being able to overclaim a single chunk in Chaeronea on Judgement Day, as it's then-mayor, 3llies, had arrived just in time to activate an overclaim shield for the town. Afterward, the war would become relatively uneventful over the coming weeks, with the San Francisco Offensive of March 2024 being the last action of the war, where dozens of chunks in San Francisco were overclaimed by neighboring Cascadian mayors, who had personal vices with it's mayor, Unbated.

Throughout the war, Cascadia fully recovered domestically, with activity increasing and events becoming more common under Setrus's second presidency. Cascadia's economy however was on the decline, partly due to the war, and low revenue. Eventually, the recession stopped in mid-March, just before the Rainy Day Fund Act's threshold at the time, 2,000 gold, was reached.

Economic Growth and the Interwar Period (March-June 2024)

With relative peace over Cascadia, the nation had started to focus more on peacetime issues. In the economy, Treasurer EmpressCorgo had started reforms in order to recover Cascadia's economy and give it savings it could actually keep. She was very successful in this venture, and kickstarted a boom in the Cascadian economy that her successor, RAWRyoutube, would take even further. The wider economy and activity in the nation during this time would gradually rise further and further with the Summer approaching. At the same time, great strides in diplomacy had been made, with Cascadia gaining multiple allies during this time through the Organization of Free Nations. Vermont, a growing power to their east, Pilbara, a nation that took up a large portion of Oceania, and Havaiki, a nation that took up much of New Zealand, were just a few examples. The aforementioned Organization of Free Nations grew massively during this time and beyond, quickly going from a dormant coalition to one of the most powerful alliances in the world, in just a couple of months.

Throughout May and June, Texas had been growing steadily as well as Cascadia, taking in friendly leaders from the Wagner War, becoming a great power in the region, and started get a little expansionist, and at the same time, sought malice upon Cascadia. As a result, Texas started to move on Cascadia, founding bridge towns to their northwest toward the Cascadian Core, until they reached California. Texan agent Samisol used this to his advantage, nearly completely wiping the server. As a result, Furball resigned out of embarrassment.

The end of the Great American War left Cascadia and her allies in the Organization of Free Nations as a collective superpower. Under Dracnoian's effective, active presidency, Cascadia entered a golden age, wielding the most power in North America it ever had in it's history. For much of this era, there was high stability, a growing economy, and Cascadia had virtually no significant enemies that actually posed a threat.

The nation's government under Dracnoian tended to focus on growing the OFN even further than it already had. Cascadia was the main head of this alliance by the time. Texas's pro war members had mostly either quit, went inactive, got banned, or stopped caring during this time, and a new, moderate King Crux took North_Paso's place

The Presidency of KayP7 was one of the most eventful, consequential, and polarizing presidencies in the history of the Republic of Cascadia. From a razor-thin election victory to sweeping government reforms, unprecedented community activity, massive treasury growth, political scandals, national security controversies, and a final declaration of martial law, the administration left behind a presidency that was anything but quiet.

On Saturday, January 17th, 2026, the January Presidential Election Debate was held in Loon Lake. KayP7 emerged as the projected winner, receiving 23 of 39 votes, or 59% of the vote. The following day, the presidential election produced one of the closest elections in Cascadian history. In a field of over 8 candidates, KayP7 defeated incumbent President MasterEWild by just one vote. The Electoral Division of Old America, made up of towns formerly belonging to Vermont, dramatically swung toward KayP7 and Wishful. The region had previously backed MasterEWild by more than 60 points, but its shift to KayP7 and wishful_ secured their victory. The final result was 48 votes for KayP7 (50.53%) against 47 for MasterEWild (49.47%).

The same election saw the Chief Justice WrestlingWithGod narrowly fail to retain his seat on the Supreme Court, leaving the position vacant. On January 20th, 2026, President KayP7 immediately appointed Farosh_ as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He later nominated Milgorn123 as an Associate Justice, a deeply controversial nomination that narrowly passed the House vote on confirmation by a tally of 14 in favor, 6 against, and 3 abstentions.

The day following the election, overclaim on EarthMC was disabled until the end of Terra Aurora, creating an era of stability for the beginning of the new administration.

The KayP7 Presidency commenced with something Cascadia had never seen before: Weekly Presidential Announcements. KayP7 established a constant stream of communication and government activity from the people to the House. The administration began reviewing towns at risk of collapse, examining infrastructure throughout the nation, protecting town bridges between the West and East Coasts, and opening direct communication between mayors and county leadership. The administration also began directly contacting mayors to prevent 42d collapse from inactivity and worked to identify towns that were struggling or on the brink of collapse. Assessments of ice-rails and roads swept the nation, and safety classifications for infrastructure were developed. The administration began improving coordination surrounding citizen safety and preventing hunters from entering Cascadian territory and terrorizing Cascadian residents.

At the same time, the national bank and treasury underwent extensive review. Donations to the national bank were encouraged on a massive scale in an effort to increase national wealth and treasury yield, which resulted in amazing growth.

On January 20th, 2026, Milgorn123's Supreme Court nomination received a lack of confidence, sparking one of the first major controversies of the presidency. During the House debate, KayP7 defended the nomination despite acknowledging Milgorn's controversial history and questionable activity. He argued that the priority of this administration was to keep the Supreme Court balanced, functional, and credible during the final months of the server.

President KayP7 strictly said in a House debate regarding Milgorn's nomination the following:

"I understand that Milgorn is a controversial nominee, but with only three months left on the server, my responsibility is not to relitigate old personal disputes, but rather to ensure that the Supreme Court remains balanced, functional, and credible throughout the end of its term.

Milgorn brings unmatched institutional knowledge as the author of the Republic of Cascadia Code (RCC), and that experience is valued on a court tasked with interpreting it. This nomination is a judgment about fitness to serve as a Justice. I remain committed to working with this legislature in good faith, and if any justice fails to uphold the standards of independence and integrity required of the Court, I will absolutely not hesitate to act. -- THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER"

The controversial nomination became one of the defining political disputes of the early presidency.

On January 22nd, 2026, President Kay introduced the National Budget of Cascadia. The Budget passed in the House of Representatives with ease and totaled an unprecedented 24,700 gold, making it the largest national budget in Cascadian history at the time. The budget represented the administration's growing emphasis on long-term preparation for the end of Terra Aurora and national stability, while cutting aid towards foreign nations and diplomatic institutions.

The next day, on January 23rd, 2026, SergioTheCrafter was expelled from the House of Cascadia after President KayP7 and Vice-President wishful_ publicly opposed his previous statements and conversations, which were characterized as threats to national security. The same day, the Gaming and Sports Act passed, establishing regulations surrounding EMC sports while providing support for the newly created athletic association, Rosey.

One of the most chaotic episodes of the KayP7 Presidency began on January 24th, 2026, following a Gartic Phone session held the previous night. More than ten players were present, including several minors, when SergioTheCrafter and Sas_haise were accused of distributing obscene and graphic material through the game. President KayP7 began gathering screenshots, witness accounts, and other evidence, while Attorney General 4Floppa began preparing legal action. The issue quickly developed into a major legal and political controversy. KayP7 and 4Floppa discussed the evidence available, potential witnesses, the legality of the executive action taken, and whether the people accused could be tied to specific images or material. Players including the President, Flippizzacake, Setrus, BergenFly, ka_ties, among others were identified as potential witnesses, while screenshots and messages from the Gartic Phone session were collected. SergioTheCrafter filed a lawsuit against the President for infringing on his constitutional rights because of the following executive order filed by President KayP7:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Cascadia, it is hereby ordered as follows: @Sergio and @𝙷𝚊𝚒𝚜𝚎🇻🇦 shall be banned from Gartic Phone for 7 days for their distribution of obscene and pornographic material. #WOKE #MAKECASGAYDIAWOKEAGAIN

I have hereunto set my hand this 23rd of January, 2026, and caused the Seal of the Republic of Cascadia to be affixed."

The prosecution against SergioTheCrafter intensified, with 4Floppa building a significant case around allegations that Sergio had knowingly distributed inappropriate material and had previously engaged in similar conduct. The dispute continued well beyond the incident. Sergio was outlawed, then later unoutlawed by Kralyerg without first consulting the Cabinet, prompting President KayP7 to object and argue that such a decision should have been discussed privately. The 13th Amendment of Cascadia was thought to provide a constitutional basis for removing Sergio from the nation on public safety grounds.

Executive Order No. 237 was promptly repealed after one day of effect by the following executive order filed by President KayP7:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Cascadia, it is hereby ordered as follows: Executive Order No. 237, dated the 23rd of January, 2026, is hereby rescinded in its entirety. Any penalties, prohibitions, or sanctions imposed pursuant to Executive Order No. 237, including but not limited to bans from Gartic Phone, are immediately lifted. All affected persons are restored to their prior status as if said order had not been issued.

I have hereunto set my hand this 24th of January, 2026, and caused the Seal of the Republic of Cascadia to be affixed."

The political drama stretched until January 26th, 2026, when Sergio seceded from Cascadia and established Shitland. The wider Gartic Phone controversy continued until February 4th, after Sergio had once again left the nation. KayP7 asked 4Floppa for approval to outlaw Sergio again, which was approved and carried out immediately. However, after 24 hours and dozens of complaints from SergioTheCrafter and Milgorn123, sayerleft unoutlawed Sergio once more to allow him to settle in Milgorn's town, Seattle.

On January 25th, 2026, President Kay launched one of the administration's largest pieces of legislation, the Big FAGiful Bill (FAGiful = Fixing Annoying Governance). The bill repealed nine redundant acts, centralized government powers, resurrected the Department of Home Affairs, amended or partially repealed another five acts, and established multiple civil holidays in an attempt to reduce the political polarization surrounding Cascadian holidays. MasterEWild subsequently introduced the Cascadian Holidays Act, seeking to establish additional Cascadian holidays that had not been included in the Big FAGiful Bill.

KayP7's presidency saw an enormous expansion of national events and history preservation efforts. The administration helped promote fishing hangouts, Sketch Heads, GeoGuessr nights, Rosey tournaments, Gartic Phone matches, Jackbox games, iceboat racing, karaoke, hide and seek, voice chats, and numerous other community activities. The program was nicknamed "MAKE CASCADIA WOKE AGAIN". Dozens of players returned to the community, with events becoming a major part of national life as reset loomed. The administration placed significant emphasis on preserving Cascadian history while also giving citizens reasons to remain involved in the nation.

On February 4th at 11:30 PM ET, Flippizzacake opened a poll asking whether he should divorce President KayP7. The result was 18 votes in favor with 15 opposed. The matter escalated into a Supreme Court case led by Ahea and other members of the Court seeking to determine whether the marriage should be declared void.

The following day, Thursday, February 5th, Vice-President wishful_ broadcast the Terri Joe Movie, which was watched by more than a dozen members of the Cascadian community. Around the same period, the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl LX. Within the WOKE circle, this was a sign that the heavenly mandate was in favor of the WOKE administration and against anti-Cascadian nations.

During the presidency, the President opened a public discussion surrounding RAWRyoutube and a massive sum of over 25,000 gold. A poll was created asking citizens what RAWRyoutube should do with the gold. The option to donate the entire amount to the national bank won with 60% of the vote, but RAWRyoutube ultimately decided to give money away to the people instead.

On February 9th, 2026, the nations of California and 2.1notinAlberta joined the meganation as Trade Possession Offices, considering them naturalized Cascadian territory.

On February 11th, the "We Are Katie Clerk Resolution," spearheaded by Representative and Vice-President wishful_, passed and resulted in the expulsion of ejsj1. The resolution expelled the town of Wisteria from Cascadia and prohibited it from rejoining under the mayoralship of ejsj1. ejsj1 was outlawed from the nation and banned from the Cascadian Discord. The action followed repeated incidents involving harassment of the Clerk of the House and President KayP7 in the infamous Rosey match, where he made derogatory comments regarding ICE and the President's Hispanic background.

Three days later, on February 14th, 2026, WOKE Party was formed under the Charter for Democratic Solidarity.

Over the course of the presidency, more than 57 executive orders were issued, the most of any other Cascadian presidency. The Department of Home Affairs underwent extensive reorganization through executive action. The National Historical Commission of Cascadia was established, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom was awarded to numerous Cascadian patriots. The administration also took action against disruptive conduct within the community. SergioTheCrafter and Sas_haise were banned from Gartic Phone for one week after distributing obscene material. Towns were expelled, government departments were reorganized, and numerous administrative decisions were made through executive authority. The administration also dealt with vacancies and failed nominations. Elimbessus was dismissed as Director of National Intelligence.
